Dr. Nick Shamie is a Board Certified Spine Surgeon and Assistant Professor at Orthopedic Surgery and Neurosurgery. He has served on the UCLA School of Medicine Faculty since 2000. Dr. Shamie is actively involved in graduate and medical education, offering his expertise to help medical students. Additionally, he serves to provide scientific and clinical research involving spine surgery. Dr. Shamie was the recipient of the UCI School of Medicine Award for Excellence in Research. He has received recognitions from several prominent organizations, including: Castle Connonlly's Top Doctors of Southern California, America's Most Compassionate Doctors (2010), SRS Dawson Traveling Fellowship, and Becker's Orthopedic & Spine Review listing of the top 10 medical center spine surgeons. He was also named one of the 50 top spine surgeons in the U.S.
Dr. Shamie received his medical degree at Northwestern University Feinburg School of Medicine. He completed his residency at St. Mary's Medical Center, and his internship at LAC and USC Medical Centers. He has acquired fellowship at the UCLA School of Medicine for both Spine Surgery and Bone Research. He provides services in the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, as well as, UCLA's Medical Center in Santa Monica.
