An American Board-Certified General, Critical Care and Pediatric Surgeon, Dr. John German has been a leader in pediatric surgery for over 35 years. A private practitioner since 1982, he is a Pediatric Surgeon at Pediatric Surgical Associates. He earned his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine, returning as an assistant professor in 1975. He completed his residency in general surgery at the Children's Hospital of Orange County, his Internship at Orange County Medical Center and a Fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at UC California Irvine.
Dr. German played an integral part of the development of the Neonatal ECMO support and NEC care units with his critical input on surgical criteria. In 1982, Dr. German was a key participant in the CHOC ECMO program, and pioneered minimally invasive surgical techniques at CHOC in 1994.
Dr. German has had several prominent service appointments, including committee member of the American Pediatric Surgery Association, board member of the Governors for the American College of Surgeons, and member and President of the Southern California Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. German is affiliated with several hospitals including Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, the Hospital for Sick Children in London, USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, and USC Medical Center.
