Liza M. Capiendo, M.D. is a Board-Certified Physician at Los Angeles Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates, Inc. and an Attending Physician at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. She is also an active member of the teaching faculty in the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Dr. Capiendo received her Medical Degree from Loma Linda University and completed her Surgical Residency at King Drew Medical Center, where she received three Surgical Resident of the Year awards She completed her Colon and Rectal Fellowship at the U.S.C. Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. Her chief clinical and research focus is on the Laparoscopic Treatment of Colon and Rectal Disorders, with a special interest in the Laparoscopic Resection of Gastrointestinal Malignancies.
Dr. Capiendo is specifically committed to treatment of rectal disorders in women. Her expertise includes the treatment of Pelvic Floor Disorders, as well as, the treatment of Fecal Incontinence.
Among her many accolades and accomplishments, Dr. Capiendo has published original research on the Radiotherapeutic Pretreatment of Colon Xenografts in The Journal of Immunopharmacology. Additionally, she presented the results of her investigation into recurrent colon and rectal cancer, to the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons Convention in Philadelphia.
Dr. Capiendo is board certified and is a member of The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. She is an accomplished Physician who delivers a warm, friendly bedside manner.
